Golden skies, clifftop views, and beachside beers — here are our favorite sunset spots after 5+ years of chasing that Bali glow.
Sunsets in Bali are something else — fiery skies melting into the sea, the sound of waves, and that laid-back island buzz. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful clifftop moment or a beach bar with music and mates, here are a few sunset spots we keep going back to.
Vibe: Spiritual, dramatic, iconic.
Best for: Ocean clifftops, Kecak dance, photos
Perched high above crashing waves, Uluwatu Temple is Bali at its most epic. Come around 5 PM, wander the temple grounds, and stay for the famous sunset Kecak fire dance. It’s touristy, yes — but still a must.

Vibe: Social, surfy, casual
Best for: Sunset drinks, live music, surfers in the lineup
Echo is our go-to for easy sunset vibes. Grab a Bintang or coconut at a beachfront warung, find a beanbag, and watch the sky light up behind the waves. Most nights you’ll catch live music, friendly locals, and lots of salty hair.

Vibe: Wild, scenic, less crowded.
Best for: Peaceful moments, epic views, couples
A little off the beaten track, Karang Boma offers wide open clifftop views without the crowds. Bring a sarong or blanket, some snacks, and settle in for a sunset that feels like a secret.

Vibe: Cultural, classic, photogenic.
Best for: First-timers, dramatic photos, temple lovers
One of Bali’s most famous temples, Tanah Lot sits on a rock just offshore. At sunset, the temple silhouette against the glowing sky is pure magic. Expect crowds — but it’s popular for a reason.

Vibe: Relaxed, beachy, local-friendly.
Best for: Sunset seafood dinners, barefoot dining, calm vibes
Come for the sunset, stay for the grilled snapper. Jimbaran is known for its beachside seafood cafés — plastic tables right on the sand, cold drinks, and a front-row seat to a golden sky. Perfect for families or date night.

Everyone loves a good Bali sunset photo, right? The sky does its magic, paints itself in ridiculous shades of orange and purple, and Instagram gets another round of “Wish you were here” posts. But here’s the thing: not every spot is created equal. And unless you love spending half your evening stuck behind 27 scooters and a bus with no exhaust pipe, you’ll want to pick your viewing point wisely.
Here are a few of my favourite spotsÂ
1. 707 Batu Balig
This place attracts expats and tourists because of the reasonably priced drinks. Bintangs are only 40K Rps. Sunday evenings is the best time to visit because theres a DJ and the party often kicks off a bit sometimes until midnight
2. Caravan in Brawa
A chic and trendy place that gets busy at sunset. Its a bit more pricey but its a cool little place that offers decent food with good tunes playing that set the scene.
3. La Brisa
Cool place but….. The service here is terrible. It takes a long time to get in and seated even if its not that busy. They have a minimum spend for daybeds. The pizzas are good but the rest of the food is average and certainly over priced.Â
4. Potato Head or Ku De Ta (Seminyak)
These are for the “sunset with a side of cocktails” crowd. The vibe is cool, the music is carefully curated, and the drinks… well, let’s just say you’ll pay Western prices for them, but they go down suspiciously easy. Great if you want a lazy, comfy option without venturing too far.
5. Anywhere Quiet
Honestly? Some of the best sunsets I’ve seen have been from random warungs on empty beaches with nobody else around. No influencers, no queues, just a cold coconut and the sky doing its thing. Bali still has these spots if you’re willing to wander a bit.
